General

A career in the oil and gas business is one where developing a broad range of skills and continuous professional development has been possible. These have with additional challenging developmental experience been the basis of a freelance consultancy originally as Morrison Associates and then in joint venture Lean Team Resources. The experience of running a successful management consultancy business over the last nine years has been very interesting and rewarding. It has enabled him to work locally and internationally delivering consultancy services to assist organisations to change, develop their organizational capabilities and improve their performance.

Current leadership roles have been to create awareness, then the will to succeed amongst all stakeholders to make change last by involving them all in the planning process. Best practice is when people have a personal interest in the success of a project, the effect is that management is simplified and better results are achieved.

Shell HSE IT strategy work has been to provide practical hands on support to Project Leadership to deliver a complex project. The politics of change within 52 companies and 103 countries is challenging and difficult to align. By using change techniques and analysis of system material in a change workshop environment the dream of one process and one system became possible through constructive dialogue and challenge to a cross functional multi-cultural team and their Management.
